Website Design FAQ
These are the questions we get asked before anyone signs anything. We would rather answer them here than make you book a call to find out.
Cost and Timelines
How much does a website cost?
It depends on page count, functionality and whether the content exists. Our pricing page gives real ranges with what is included at each level, rather than making you ask.
How long does it take?
A straightforward brochure site is usually four to eight weeks. The variable is almost never our build time — it is how quickly content and feedback come back.
Why do quotes vary so much?
Because "a website" covers a five-page template and a custom application. When comparing quotes, compare what is actually included: content, images, SEO setup, tracking and training are often quietly excluded from the cheaper one.
Ownership and Control
Do we own the website?
Yes. The domain, the hosting account, the code and the content are yours, in accounts registered to you. We get access; we do not hold the keys.
Can we edit it ourselves?
Yes. We build so your team can change copy and images safely, with layout locked so a text edit cannot break a page. Training is part of handover.
What if we want to leave?
You take everything with you. We build on WordPress and static builds precisely because they export — you are never held by the platform or by us.
After Launch
What happens once the site is live?
It needs updates, backups and monitoring. That is website maintenance, and you can do it yourself or have us do it — but somebody has to.
Will the new site rank straight away?
A new site starts without history. A redesign of an existing site should keep its rankings, which is entirely a question of whether redirects were mapped properly — see website redesign.
Is SEO included?
The structural part is: clean URLs, headings, schema, speed and one intent per page. Ongoing content and link work is a separate service, because it is ongoing.
Working With Us
Do you work outside Houston?
Yes. We are in Houston and we started in Santa Rosa, California — we still have clients there. The work happens remotely either way.
What do you need from us to start?
An idea of what the business does and who it sells to. Our intake form collects the rest, and it saves the answers as you go.
What if we are not a good fit?
We will tell you, early. Turning down work that would not have gone well is cheaper for both of us than discovering it in month three.
One More Thing
Still have a question that is not here? Ask it — we will answer it straight, and if it is a good one it ends up on this page.
